Wine on tap is adding an exciting new way to experience Flagler Beachfront Winery’s latest creations. This new on tap technology allows winemaker Ken Tarsitano to experiment with interesting varietals and create innovative blends on a small scale. The winery now has the capability to bring unique wines to market without the limitations of bottling. In essence, truly becoming an artisan winery.
WHY TAP IT? Wine on tap maintains the wine’s integrity from the barrel to the tap. You are essentially tasting the wine the way the winemaker intended. How is this done? Finished, aged wine is placed in a keg. No aging occurs once it is in the keg and the wine will not be exposed to oxygen. This means no old oxidized bottles of wine. The superior quality of the wine is maintained from the first glass to the last! One stainless steel keg holds 5.16 gallons of wine. This equals about 26 bottles of wine, which gives you 104 six-ounce glasses of wine.
ECO-FRIENDLY Wine on tap is just starting to catch on and is already saving 5 million bottles from landfills. The stainless steel kegs are 100% reusable and reduce the carbon footprint up to 96% more than wine in bottles. More importantly, keg wine saves millions of pounds of trash (cardboard boxes, foil tops, wood pallets, corks, etc.) from landfills.
WINE AS ART Like a painter’s palette, Ken now has the freedom to artistically craft small or large batches. Choosing from over 5,000 different types of wine grapes, Ken can create and blend specialty wines that are unique to only our winery.
